PRELUDE

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS

P In the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the

Holy Spirit.

C Amen

P Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known,

and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts

by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you

and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

C Amen

P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is

not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will

forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Kneel/Stand

P Most Merciful God,

C we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free

ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and

deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved

our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus

Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so

that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the

glory of your holy name. Amen

P Almighty God, in his mercy, has given his Son to die for us and,

for his sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of

the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the

entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the

+ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

C Amen

Gathering Hymn: “O Beautiful For Spacious Skies” Hymn 888

P. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the

communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

C And also with you.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

P O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, you are the city that

shelters us, the mother who comforts us. With your Spirit

accompany us on our life’s journey, that we may spread your

peace in all the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

C Amen

CHILDRENS SERMON

FIRST READING: Isaiah 66:10-14

10  “Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her,

all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her,

all you who mourn over her.

11  For you will nurse and be satisfied

at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply

and delight in her overflowing abundance.”

12  For this is what the LORD says:

“I will extend peace to her like a river,

    and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;

you will nurse and be carried on her arm

    and dandled on her knees.

13  As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you;

and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

14  When you see this, your heart will rejoice

    and you will flourish like grass;

the hand of the LORD will be made known to his servants,

but his fury will be shown to his foes.

C: Thanks be to God

SECOND READING: Galatians 6:1-16

6  1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live

by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch

yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2  Carry each other’s

burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3  If

anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they

deceive themselves. 4  Each one should test their own actions.

Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing

themselves to someone else, 5  for each one should carry their own

load. 6  Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word

should share all good things with their instructor.

7  Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what

he sows. 8  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will

reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the

Spirit will reap eternal life. 9  Let us not become weary in doing

good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not

give up. 10  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all

people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

11  See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!

12  Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are

trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do

this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13  Not even

those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be

circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the

flesh. 14  May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus

Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to

the world. 15  Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means

anything; what counts is the new creation. 16  Peace and mercy to

all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God.

STAND FOR THE GOSPEL

P: The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke the 10 th chapter.

C: Glory to you, O Lord

GOSPEL: Luke 10:1-11, 16-20 KJV

10  1 After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and

sent them two and two before his face into every city and place,

whither he himself would come. 2  Therefore said he unto them,

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye

therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth

labourers into his harvest. 3  Go your ways: behold, I send you forth

as lambs among wolves. 4  Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor

shoes: and salute no man by the way. 5  And into whatsoever

house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6  And if the son of

peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to

you again. 7  And in the same house remain, eating and drinking

such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go

not from house to house. 8  And into whatsoever city ye enter, and

they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

9  And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The

kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10  But into whatsoever city

ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the

streets of the same, and say, 11  Even the very dust of your city,

which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: not

withstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come

nigh unto you. 16  He that heareth you heareth me; and he that

despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth

him that sent me. 17  And the seventy returned again with joy,

saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy

name. 18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall

from heaven. 19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents

and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing

shall by any means hurt you. 20  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not,

that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because

your names are written in heaven.

was buried. He descended into hell.* On the third day he rose

again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand

of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the

C “Holy, Holy, Holy” Page 108

P In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread,

and gave thanks; he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take

and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to

drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you

and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this in remembrance of

THE LORD’S PRAYER
